Meet Bonnie
Bonnie Wolff grew up in Montana and began her professional career by graduating as a Licensed Practical Nurse. After working 5 years in various aspects of nursing, she decided to make a career change to work in the jewelry industry first thinking she wanted to be a designer, then retail owner. While finishing her Graduate Gemologist degree, she took the trip to Carlsbad, CA to discover the career of a traveling instructor of gemology that would take her around the world. With the tools of teaching gemology, Bonnie went on to begin her own independent jewelry appraisal business. Bonnie and her husband Rick Marzetta, moved to Payson from Scottsdale in 2019. After the COVID-19 pandemic she decided to work with the Gila County Recorder’s office in 2021. Her experience with the recorder’s office has inspired her to make a change to run for the Gila County recorder position.

Statement of INtent
I am announcing my intention to run for Recorder of Gila County. After over two years of experience in the Recorder's Office, the need for change became apparent and I believe that I am the right person to lead that change and better serve the constituents of Gila County.
TRANSPARENCY – Education is important. With education comes the knowledge to ask questions and find out why something is done and sometimes why something is not done. Voter rolls will be one of the first things to be reviewed and cleaned up. I do not feel this current administration has been transparent with the constituents or its staff. I am looking to change that by attending organizational meetings to educate those who have questions as well as myself about what the issues are. I , as recorder, will also give regular public service announcements to keep everyone in the loupe about what is happening regarding the Recorder's office.
EXPERIENCE – I have over 2 years of experience working in the Payson Recorder’s office. While voting is the hot subject matter for the times, the majority of what the office does on a day-to-day basis is to record the documents for the county. I look forward to creating a team and training the Payson and Globe staff in all areas of the recorder’s office so that when it comes to transition, all will run smoothly.
CHANGE – I am very much a proponent of term limits. I believe that an elected office should only have 2 terms maximum. With longer terms, the officials, now career politicians, become compliant and tend to ignore current ideas that may make a difference in the long term, only looking to what the maximum, they can retire with exuding the least amount of effort.

Changes I would Make to the Recorder's office based on my Experiences and time working in the office
- The staff will be treated with respect. The main reason I left the office was the disrespect. The recorder's office is a revolving door for staff. I will be transparent with the staff about issues happening so they will not get surprised at the window with an issue that only the recorder or the deputy know about.
- I will review the budget and address things in that category that have possibly been mismanaged.
- I will review the staffing budget and get enough staff for both the Globe and Payson offices. Many times the Payson office is closed because the Payson people are called to go to Globe or Globe staff has to come to Payson to cover for the one employee they have in the Payson Office. During Voting season, I will hire and train temporary people to assist with the mail ballots and the early voting locations.
- I will conduct Weekly Zoom meetings so all staff is on the same page. If all is caught up, these meetings would only be 15 min to a half hour long.
- I will be dividing my time between Globe and Payson. I live in Payson but it is important to be in both offices. I will arrange with my deputy recorder that when I am in one place, they are in the other for the majority of the time. I feel it is important to be in the office and not gone 2 weeks out of every month.
- The staff will be adequately trained before ever being left alone. Adequate training is essential for success of my staff.
- The staff will be cross trained for both working with deeds and with voter registration and early voting. Some may have more extensive skills in one area or the other but will be trained and comfortable so they can provide service.
- I will give regular public service announcements for any changes invoving the Recorder's office. If new legislation is passed, I will keep everyone informed about what is happening.
- I will be working side by side with the staff. There will be no job I will not be willing to do. I believe in leadership by example. I will have an open-door policy for staff and constituents.
- I will have Plans in place. If plan A isn’t working (computer going down) plan B is there and ready. The staff will know and participate, with their ideas, in regard to these plans.
- I will work to have the Payson office have a kiosk where people can do their own research.
- I will participate in monthly meetings with the Treasurer and the Assessor so Gila County offices are on the same page. Having these meetings will improve the efficiency of the offices involved and improve our services to the public.
